The 15-year-old Kuwaiti producer and photographer, Aws Yarub Burahma, brought together a group of heroic, creative and talented Kuwaiti youth to represent the bright face of Kuwait with a work he produced entitled ‘The Other Side of Kuwait’ to support distinguished Kuwaiti youth/ Aws took the hobby of photography from his father and was passionate about it since childhood, then developed his talent to become a filmmaker at the age of 15. The first Kuwaiti woman to participate in the motocross and rally sport, Sarah Khraibet is idol of bravery and ambition. She is a graduate of mechanical engineering, who decided to follow her passion to become a Kuwaiti motorsport champion who participated in many local and international races. She achieved fourth place in the overall standings of the Baja Portugal World Motorcycle Championship in 2021 for the women’s category and second place in the Dubai Endurocross Championship in the women’s category. Her most recent achievement was taking first place in the Hail Rally 2023 in the women’s category in the first round of the World Motorcycle Championship, and she ranked seventeenth in the overall standings.
Animation artist at Sony Pictures Image Works, Ahmed Jamal is a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture from Drexel University. He is an enthusiastic and creative artist who is always striving for development and creativity to bring out the best combination of design, art and animation. He has many artworks and video clips, most notably the Spider-Man video in Kuwait. Ahmed was hired by Sony Pictures Image Works as a VFX movie character animator specifically for Marvel and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the holiday special. Ahmed moved to Vancouver and became part of the animation crew under the direction of James Gunn for both films. Ahmed is responsible for the movement and representation of characters in the shots he is working on as an animator, and he is an example of an ambitious young man who knows how to achieve his dreams.
Wadha al-Khatib is the CEO of Kuwait National Petroleum Company, and is ranked eighth in the 2020 Forbes list of the 100 most powerful businesswomen in the Middle East. She held many leadership positions for more than 26 years at the National Petroleum Company, where she worked as a Senior Operations Engineer at the Ahmadi Refinery in 2003, then as the Environment Team Leader in 2005, then as the Technical Services Manager for the Al-Ahmadi Port Refinery in 2013. Wadha Al-Khatib holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 1994 from Kuwait University. During her leadership of the Abdullah Port Refinery, the refinery achieved $30 billion in annual revenues. She is the first woman to head the Gas Processing Association for the branches of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and she was a member of the board of directors of the Kuwaiti Styrene Company during the fiscal year 2018 and 2019. She also chaired the Kuwaiti Paraxylene Production Company since May 2019.
Jassim Al Qamis is a Kuwaiti writer, producer, and director. He holds a BA in Political Science in 2005 from the University of Hartford, USA. Al Qamis is the Co-founder and editor-in-chief of Manshoor since 2015 and creative director at Al-Jabriya Al-Hurra Advertising, Artistic and Theatrical Production Company since 2018. He authored many famous works of art in Kuwait and the Arabian Gulf, including plays, series, documentaries, news programs and various works. One of his most famous works is ‘Taqdeer Al-Ehtiyaj’ sitcom in 2019. Prior to his work in writing and the artistic field, Jassim worked in several positions in the world of journalism and media, where he was the Director of External Relations in Kuwait Shell Company 2014-2015, an independent Marketing And Public Relations Consultant in 2012-2013, the Head of Public Relations in Kuwait National Airlines 2009-2011, the Chief Political Correspondent at Al-Jarida newspaper 2007-2009, and a Marketing Officer at Kuwait Projects Company Holding (KIPCO) 2006-2007. He also held the position of Director of the Office of Action Global Communications in Qatar between January and June 2006, and Director of Kuwait Accounts for the same company 2005-2006.
Saad Al-Tami has struggled with learning disabilities his entire life, but in 2018, when he was attending Toledo University, Ohio, a doctor diagnosed him with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Graduated from the University of Toledo with a BA in Finance, Saad Al-Tami wanted to pursue a master's degree and studied political science at George Washington University. On his graduation, Saad gave the graduation speech and became the first Kuwaiti and Arab to deliver the graduation speech at George Washington University. His speech was posted online on social media and the video went viral.
As one of the best oncologists and surgeons in the United States, Dr. Waddah Al-Rifai has enjoyed a long and successful career. Graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, He then trained at the Amiri Hospital and completed his residency at the University of California San Diego in 2004. In 2006, he completed a fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is a member of several prominent surgical societies, including the American College of Surgeons and the American Surgical Association. He founded the Surgical Contrasts Task Force at MedStar Health and Georgetown University Medical Center. In January 2023, he was appointed Chief of Surgery at Creighton University.
Amal El Roumi is one of the best up-and-coming athletes. She won two bronze medals at the 6th Gulf Games for Women in 2019. She got first place in the first 3 km race from the Kuwait Athletics Federation. Amal set a national record in 2021 and won first place in the 3 km distance in a competition organized by the Kuwait Athletics Federation. In 2022, she won first place in both the 800m and 1500m in a competition led by the Kuwait Athletics Association.
Abdullah Shaaban made history by winning third place worldwide in karate in 2022 after competing in multiple competitions. He won a silver medal in the 2022 Islamic Solidarity Games held in Konya, Turkey. In May of the same year, Abdullah won a bronze medal at the Mohammed VI International Karate Cup in Morocco, and won fourth place in the men's under-60 kg kumite in karate at the 2022 World Games. At the end of the year, he won a gold medal at the Asian Karate Championship.
Nour Al Mukhled is an activist concerned with social and political rights of women. She is a project manager at Abolish 153, a campaign that plans to overturn the law that gives men in Kuwait power over their sisters and mothers, without fair prosecution. Nour leads workshops at Abolish 153, and is also a contributor to Al Qabas newspaper, the Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington, Fair Observer, and New Lines Magazine. At Ebtikar Strategic Consulting, Nour works as a consultant. She is a project manager at Ethar, an organization that aims to fight for women's rights with plans to provide a shelter for battered women.
One of the first Kuwaiti athletes to qualify in a world-class paddle board, Abdulaziz Al-Mayouf made Kuwait proud. He won first place in the Paddle Championship in Kuwait and the Talabat Paddle Tour in 2022. In the same year, he participated in the GCC Games that were held in Kuwait.
Ahmad Al-Barjas was a viral name during the Coronavirus pandemic, in 2020, when people were constantly spreading false information. He became one of the most reliable sources for his accurate news and sometimes he was the first to pu spokesperson for the Ministry of State for Communications Affairs. In 2022, Kuwait News launched a program called "Manthoor", hosted by Ahmad. The program hosts people from different perspectives to address social and political issues.
Sina Al-Humaidhi owns and operates a restaurant in Kuwait called "Dar Hamad". The restaurant is very successful and has two branches. She and her siblings transformed their ancestral home into a traditional Kuwaiti restaurant with modern touches. In 2016, representing Dar Hamad, Sina received an award from the Kuwait Red Crescent Society for the hospitality offered by the restaurant. In October 2018, the restaurant donated a percentage of its profits to the Sidra Foundation, an organization that aims to help women fight breast cancer.
Nour Al-Ghandour is an Egyptian actress born in Kuwait who has acted in more than 40 films, plays and TV series over the years. Nour first started her career in 2011 as a TV presenter. She is largely famous for the following series: "From Haram Street to", "Cairo Batch" and "Juman", which appeared on Netflix.
Heba Hamadeh is probably one of the most prolific Kuwaiti writers and is known to write the most popular series and plays. She has been acting since the early 2000's, and is also one of the brilliant minds behind Zain musicals. In 2022, the series “From Haram Street to”, written by Heba, was launched, and it was the most watched series in Ramadan. Heba wrote the show “Cairo Batch”, released in 2019. Then, she wrote the following two series, “Beirut Batch” and “London Batch”, released in 2020 and 2023, respectively.
As one of the most prominent chefs and businessmen in Kuwait, Faisal Al Nashmi launched his career when he opened Street AlMakan in 2014. He graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in 2012 with a Diploma in Culinary Arts after getting a Bachelor’s degree in Film Production from a university in the USA. He is Development Director and Co-Owner of Street AlMakan, Street Café, Street Ice Cream, Upper Street, Table Otto, Pam & Cow and The Experimental Eatery. Faisal also branched out and opened a number of his own restaurants in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Riyadh
Haider Al-Nakeeb is the founder and CEO of Al-Kharafi International Trading Company since 1993. In 2005, Al-Kharafi International Company acquired the Johnny Rockets franchise in Kuwait and it was so successful that it opened other branches in the GCC countries. The company later opened Nino and it remains popular to this day. Kateh, Baker & Spice was established and opened in subsequent years. Baker & Spice is an award winning artisan restaurant and bakery..
Hamad Al-Saab owns Benchmark, an interior design studio, which opened in 2017. He is also the director of consultancy and furniture designer at Benchmark. He works with his two brothers Nasser and Abdullah. In 2022, Hamad became the first Kuwaiti designer to exhibit his work at the Marmomac International Exhibition, which specializes in architecture and interior design. At Marmomac, Hamad showcased his design piece, which he calls "The Sunflower Coffee Table". The piece is sustainable and can be used in many different ways.
Sheikha Dana Al-Sabah is a Founder and CEO. In 1997, she was the General Manager of the Kuwait Projects Company (KIPCO) and as of 2022, she became the CEO of KIPCO. Sheikha Dana founded the American University of Kuwait in 2003, along with her other company, United Education Company. In 2017, she received an honorary doctorate from Dartmouth College for establishing the American University in Kuwait, which is considered the first liberal arts university in Kuwait. Sheikha Dana is also a board member of Gulf Insurance Group, OSN and Kamco Invest. In 2023, she was ranked 12th on the Forbes list of 100 Most Powerful Businesswomen.
Bashar Al-Salem is the CEO and Principal Architect of Kayan Office, which was established in 2006. Kayan is an architecture and construction firm with offices in Kuwait and Qatar. They have worked on many residential villas, commercial projects and educational facilities. Bashar also worked with the State Department in initiating the design process and helping find consultants for projects outside Kuwait for diplomats. He plans to work in Saudi Arabia in the future and participate in the booming tourism by working in future resorts.
Souad Abdullah is considered one of the most famous actresses in Kuwait. People's Televisions honored her for the first time in 1963 in the "Al-Dawlia TV" program. She later started acting on stage as well in the year 1964. Over the years, she has acted in 172 TV serials and plays. Some of her most famous characters can be seen in: “Azoubi Salmiya”, “Dars Khosousi”, “Kharaja Walam Yaod”, “Khalti Qumasha”, “Aladunia Al Salam”, “Mabrouka and Mahzouza”, “Zaman El Skafi”, “Shahr El Asal”, and “Bsat El Faqr”. In 1986, she starred in the famous TV series "Ruqayya and Sabika" with the star, Hayat Al-Fahd. They reprised their roles when they shot a commercial for the Riyadh Outlet and the video instantly went viral. In 2023, Souad won the Theater Days Festival Personality Award and also received the Honorary Entertainment Award at the Joy Awards with actress and longtime friend Hayat.
Basil Al Salem started his entrepreneurial journey with a simple concept: high quality burger. He is the founder and CEO of Gastronomica, a hospitality group that started with its first restaurant in 2005, called "B+F Burger Boutique". Two years later, Basil Slider Station opened in 2007. Today, Slider Station has branches in Oman and Bahrain. In 2015, BRW coffee opened its doors in Kuwait and has now expanded to Dubai as well. Basil also owns Roadside Diner, White Robata, Cocoa Room, Milkbun and several restaurants located in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman. In January of 2023, White Robata was awarded Best Restaurant in Kuwait for the second year in a row.
Bashar Al-Shatti made his debut in Star Academy in 2004 when he won second place. He released two albums in 2005 and 2006. He is also an actor and composer. Bashar appeared on stage for many years, especially during Eid, in Zain Musicals. His plays have always been popular and were enjoyed by children and adults alike. Bashar has appeared in more than 20 plays, films and series. In 2022, he is signed to Sony Music Middle East and Ghmza Studios. In the same year, Bashar appeared in the play "The Circus", which was shown on Eid.
Mohammed Burabi is an athlete and jet-ski champion of nearly 17 years. He has won the Guinness World Records title three times since 2018. He was the first jet ski rider in Kuwait. He has won more than 20 world championships and 28 titles and is one of the best athletes in his field. In 2016, Mohammed received an award from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Youth Affairs in recognition of his achievements. In 2022, Mohammed won the finals of the World Jet Ski Championship that was held in Thailand, and also won second place in the Kings Cup of Thailand.
Fadia and Nadia Al-Marzouq are co-founders of a health center called "Nafs". The center offers workshops to help individuals with breathing and wellness. Nafs also offers one-on-one consultations, and on some days workshops are fully booked. Nadia was also a board member and director of media and public relations at Loyac, a non-profit organization that provides a space for young people in Kuwait to become community helpers and work on their talents.
Lulwa Al-Mulla leads the Kuwaiti Women's Cultural and Social Association team, and has done so for many years. She is considered one of the first women's rights activists in Kuwait and has fought for women's rights for more than 40 years. WCSS had an important role in women's suffrage rights in 2005, and in subsequent years, women's rights to be lawyers and judges. She is a member of the NGO Advisory Board of UN Women for the Arab Region, and is a founder and board member of the Kuwait Association for the Protection of Public Funds. In 2019, she received the Rania Award for Islamic World in Malaysia on behalf of the Women's Cultural and Social Association.
As one of the few who talked about adoption, Safaa Al-Failakawi opened people’s eyes and hearts when she introduced her adopted son to the world in 2011. She was considered the youngest woman in Kuwait to adopt a child from the orphanage. He was five months old at the time and his name was Muhammad. Today, Safa works as an art educator and continues to inspire people and her 450,000 followers with her story.
Sarah Sadek founded her eponymous company in 2011. Her company is based in Kuwait and Spain. It has consistently demonstrated the highest level of standards in architectural and interior design. Many of the homes she designed can be found not only in Kuwait, but in Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia and Oman as well. In 2022, Sarah won four awards in London at the International Property Awards.
Jasim Kabiri is the founder and CEO of the ROF Group, which owns CAF. CAF is a very successful coffee shop that opened its doors in Crystal Tower in 2016. Today, CAF has more than 10 branches in Kuwait alone. They also have subsidiaries in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Egypt, Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
Saud Al-Sanousi is an accomplished novelist and journalist. He wrote "Mama Hessa's Mice" and "The Bamboo Stalk" among many others. His first novel was published in 2010 and won the Laila Al-Othman Prize. In 2011, he won first place in Stories in the Air Completion for his story "Bonsai and the Old Man". He won the International Prize for Arabic Fiction in 2013, and in 2016 he was awarded the Person of the Year Award in Bahrain. The Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard University presented a lecture by Saud Al-Sanousi in Arabian Peninsula Studies to talk about his book “The Bamboo Stalk” in 2018. He also participated in the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center as a writer-in-residence and wrote the new version of the musical called “Memoirs of a Sailor.”
