YSL BEAUTY’S ABUSE IS NOT LOVE PROGRAM HONORS SURVIVORS’ STORIES

For International Women’s Day, YSL Beauty puts a spotlight on Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) through a dedicated campaign that emphasizes the importance of warning signs

PARIS, France, March 8, 2021 - In celebration of International Women’s Day, Yves Saint Laurent Beauty has launched a new campaign that honors IPV survivors’ stories, spoken through the voice of French personalities who provide poignant renditions of these first-hand accounts. Created from real testimonials, these moving narratives shed light on the warning signs of IPV and, at the end of each  spot, direct viewers to NGO resources.

Intimate partner violence (IPV) is one of the most common forms of violence against women and includes physical, sexual, financial, and emotional abuse, as well as controlling behaviours by an  intimate partner. Approximately 1 in 3 women will experience intimate partner violence in their lifetime1 and only a small proportion of survivors will obtain justice.

Stephan Bezy, International General Manager, Yves Saint Laurent Beauty, says, “Research shows that IPV comes with key warning signs. If these signs can be detected earlier, we may be able to recognize it better and seek or offer help.2  At YSL Beauty, we are committed to being a significant     force of change and to raising awareness about this issue, and I am confident that this powerful campaign will contribute to our efforts.”

Told in the voice of French personalities, the campaign will roll out via posts and stories on the brand’s Instagram page (March 8-9), along with an Instagram Live activation (March 8) and 60-second video spots to be broadcast on French television (March 5-11th), reaching an audience of 5 million viewers  per day.
