Review: Big Aura at Dior Haute Couture SS24

By Rasha AlSabah

This year, the Spring Summer 2024 Dior Haute Couture show took place in the Rodin Museum Gardens. An installation by Isabella Ducrot was adorned across the walls of the showroom. The installation is named “Big Aura.” It was comprised of twenty-three oversized dresses on top of white and black geometric stripes. The dresses themselves were very tall and some reached up to five meters high.

The show started with khaki-colored monochromatic looks with trench coats and dresses. Asymmetrical shapes also graced the runway with wide-leg pants and capes. Tailored jackets with pleated and pencil skirts were definitely a nod to the iconic Dior “Bar Jacket.”

There were black and white dresses with romantic shapes that flowed across the models as they walked.

The polka dot dresses were a surprise to me as they didn’t seamlessly transition through the runway, poking out through the rest of the looks.

Burgundy, black, white, khaki, red and lime green were the main color themes for the Spring Summer 2024 Dior Haute Couture collection. Feathers also seemed to be an interesting element throughout the different looks. They weren’t used too generously but I loved the subtle use of them. I think the most exciting look included a 3D flower embroidered top that is a perfect summer item.
