LADY GAGA'S HAUTE COUTURE OUTFIT FOR

THE INAUGURAL NUMBER OF THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE OLYMPIC GAMES PARIS 2024

Formidably flamboyant, Lady Gaga inaugurated the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 with an incredible performance that celebrated the spirit of French cabaret and its brightest stars. For this spectacular moment – orchestrated on the Square Barye, at the tip of Ile Saint Louis – the dazzling singer-songwriter performed Mon Truc en Plumes by the iconic Zizi Jeanmaire. This cult hit was conceived in 1961 by Roland Petit, a choreographer for whom Christian Dior had already designed ballet costumes. A grandiose show spotlighting the wonderful dialogue between the arts and haute couture that the House of Dior has been weaving ever since it was founded in Paris in 1946.

Devised by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior's fabulous creation for the American star featured a black satin bustier paired with panties (crafted by the house of Cadolle), topped by a short jacket and a majestic, feathered skirt* – worked in a sublime black and pink palette. The silhouette was enhanced by a matching headdress elaborated by Stephen Jones. Gradually removing her garments as she performed, Lady Gaga finally appeared adorned with a “Cul de Paris”, the emblematic accessory of the art of music-hall. She was surrounded by seventeen musicians and ten dancers in Dior outfits inspired by Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina (1954) and pompoms made by the Lido de Paris.

An enchanting journey through time and the spellbinding legends of Paris.

The feathers used to make this Dior creation were collected during the birds’ moult.
