acquires majority stake of knitwear supplier in Italy Maglificio Matisse

FENDI is pleased to announce the acquisition of the majority stake of Maglificio Matisse located in Sant’Egidio alla Vibrata in the province of Teramo, within Italian region of Abruzzo, on the border with Marche region, not far from the FENDI new pole of excellence for shoes in Fermo.

Maglificio Matisse, a company characterized by a strong industrial footprint and integration between the traditional handmade knitwear together with a strong technology innovation, has been working with FENDI for over 15 years as a key supplier in the knitwear category and for other top luxury brands.

“Together with the openings of our FENDI Factory in Tuscany for leather goods and in Marche for shoes, this acquisition marks another step of our Maison towards its commitment to support Made-in-Italy and its supply chain. We are thankful to Luigino Scarpantonii for having successfully led the Maglificio Matisse alongside his children and look forward to writing a next chapter together with them”, states Serge Brunschwig, Chairman and CEO of FENDI.

Maglificio Matisse covers all the production phases and all the knitwear technologies embodying a perfect example of a fully verticalized Made in Italy company. The company’s production capacity will be further strengthened thanks to new investments that are already planned for the coming years. The family management will continue to run and operate the business also after the acquisition to guarantee the know-how and expertise built by the Scarpantonii family.
