Queen Rania Al Abdullah Wears Laith Maalouf Couture

In a stunning showcase of local talent, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah celebrated King Abdullah II of Jordan's 25th Silver Jubilee in a custom couture creation from Jordanian designer Laith Maalouf. The design, rich with symbolism and cultural significance, reflects Jordan's proud heritage and the milestones achieved during King Abdullah's reign.

Speaking about this significant opportunity, Laith Maalouf said: "Queen Rania, who is a humanitarian, philanthropist, and a fashion icon, has always been an inspiration. It has been a lifelong dream to create a gown for her. This is a true milestone, honor, and privilege that she entrusted me to design a gown for her to celebrate this momentous occasion."

Laith Maalouf shared his inspiration for the piece: "The buttons on the shirt represent Jordan's 7- pointed star, a symbol of unity and hope. The bustier, embodying the concept of body armor, symbolizes the protection and strength that Jordan has experienced over the past 25 years. The pleated skirt features hand-embroidered spikes of wheat, an element deeply rooted in Jordanian heritage. Traditionally seen in the Jordanian keffiyeh, the wheat motif symbolizes abundance and prosperity, reflecting Jordan's agricultural legacy and cultural depth."

The creation of the gown was a labor of love and dedication, taking around 200 hours of meticulous work. From initial meetings with Her Majesty to discuss the design, through sketching, sourcing the appropriate fabrics, pattern making, sewing, and embroidery, each step was handled with the utmost care and attention to detail by skilled couturiers.

This exquisite choice underscores Her Majesty's commitment to promoting and uplifting Jordan's vibrant fashion industry. Laith Maalouf, renowned for his unique and sophisticated designs that blend tradition with modern elegance, crafted a piece that perfectly exemplifies his craftsmanship and creative vision, making it a fitting tribute for such a prestigious occasion.
