A Canvas for Creativity across The Bicester Collection

The Villages in Spain, the UK and Belgium provide an exciting platform for a programme of art installations and exhibitions from iconic and contemporary artists, which offer guests a compelling experience at the intersection of art and fashion.

On 19 March, La Roca Village, Barcelona, launched a year-long exhibition programme dedicated to Gala Dalí , a long-hidden figure in the Surrealist art movement, who influenced the work of iconic artists including Max Ernst, Man Ray, Paul E luard and, of course, her husband, Salvador Dalí . Now open to the public at Pu bol Castle and La Roca Village, the exhibition redefines Gala’s legacy, through the lens of her fashion archive. Visitors to Pu bol Castle, the fortress in Girona built by Salvador Dalí as a shrine to his muse, can discover 24 key fashion pieces from Gala’s personal collection, including designs by Christian Dior and Elsa Schiaparelli to outfits from Givenchy and Jeanne Lanvin. Guests at La Roca Village can rediscover Gala Dalí with new interpretations from local contemporary artists, including a large-format art installation from photographer Jordi Bernado , while illustrator Carla Fuentes reimagines the muse as a modern and influential creative force in large façades across the boulevards.

Maasmechelen Village, Brussels, has launched a unique collaboration with renowned Belgian landscape artist Jean-Louis Muller, who has transformed the Village into a botanical oasis under the theme 'Fashion is our Nature’. In tribute to Belgium’s only national park, Hoge Kempen, which surrounds Maasmechelen Village, Muller has used birch twigs sourced from the surrounding area to create a natural construction around the six-metre-high version of Brussels’s landmark Manneken Pis, which stands in the centre of the Village. From 1 April until the end of September, Muller will create a natural terrace for guests to enjoy in collaboration with innovative pottery studio Atelier Vierkant.

Las Rozas Village, Madrid, has transformed into an open-air art gallery, offering ‘Everlasting Love’ on its boulevards through a set of installations, specially created by contemporary artist Noemí Iglesias, until the end of April. This artistic project includes pieces such as Emotional Rescue, an installation composed of ten 3D-printed lotus flowers, and He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not, featuring 437 unfired handmade porcelain flowers. The Village will also feature the piece entitled, Love Me Fast, which was the inspiration for Iglesias’s solo exhibition at the Thyssen Bornemisza National Museum in Madrid, and will be featured in collaboration with Las Rozas Village until 28 April, taking inspiration from the concept of romantic love in the age of social networks.

When visiting the palace, guests can experience a world-class fashion exhibition featuring designs and displays by the late Dame Vivienne Westwood, Jean Muir, Terry de Havilland, Bruce Oldfield, Turnbull & Asser, Zandra Rhodes, Lulu Guinness, Barbour, Alice Temperley, Stella McCartney and Stephen Jones Millinery for Christian Dior. Blenheim Palace has also worked closely with some of the designers to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sir Winston Churchill, which took place at the Palace.
