MATCHESFASHION LAUNCH LATEST IN CURATED BY SERIES WITH GAIA REPOSSI

MATCHESFASHION is delighted to announce that haute joaillerie designer Gaia Repossi will be the next host for the Curated By series.

Shot in Paris, Gaia Repossi showcased her latest haute joaillerie collection for Repossi and an exclusive 90s-inspired edit for MATCHESFASHION, ‘It’s almost too 1990s – jeans, cropped tops, bright, strange colour mixed with a very simple palette.’ The exclusive edit includes her favourite pieces from designers such as Bottega Veneta, Givenchy, Raey, Jil Sander, Vetements, Jacquemus, The Attico, The Row and Wardrobe.nyc.

Speaking to Shona Wallace for MATCHESFASHION, the Turin-born designer discusses her personal style, her passion for new, emerging designers and her avant-garde approach to the world of haute joaillerie which originally wasn’t her chosen profession, ‘I wanted to be an artist. I inherited the talent for drawing from my father, and I was very into painting as a kid.’ As well as taking over an iconic house and her initial design process, ‘I was interested by shapes and actual stones – so when we launched the matching earrings and cuffs, a lot of jewellers said ‘wow, why didn’t we think of that, it’s so simple. We were astonished how little things like that could create a massive hit – in jewellery it is rare.’

Gaia showcases her latest collection which is all about ‘beautiful, simple’  jewellery and how she personally wears every new piece for at least a week after launch to see how it feels, which is a ‘funny family tradition’ for good luck. Asides from her passion for jewellery Gaia also touches on her love for minimalistic style and experimenting with unexpected elements. ‘I love wearing young designers, strange pieces that make people think “Why would she wear that?”, citing her admiration for Martine Rose, Matty Bovan, Wales Bonner, Simone Rocha and Molly Goddard.
