Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah passed away

The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, passed away today, Saturday, December 16, at the age of 86.

“With great sadness and sorrow, we announce to the Kuwaiti people, the Arab and Islamic nations, and the friendly peoples of the world the death of the late, God Almighty willing, His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait, who passed away to his Lord today, Saturday, the third of Jumada al-Akhir, 1445 AH, the sixteenth of December 2023. .

We pray to God Almighty to cover the deceased with His vast mercy and to dwell him in His spacious gardens. There is no power or strength except with God Almighty.

Sheikh Nawaf was born on June 25, 1937 and grew up in Dasman Palace, which was the ruling house during the emirate of his father Ahmed Al Jaber, and received his education in Kuwaiti schools. He held many positions, including the position of Minister of Defense in 1988, and headed the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in the first government after the liberation of Kuwait. He also became Minister of the Interior in 2003.

On February 20, 2006, he was named Crown Prince, and took over the reins of power after the death of his brother, the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on September 29, 2020. He was sworn in before the National Assembly in a special session held on September 30, 2020, making him the fourth prince to take the oath.
