Montblanc Expands Extreme 3.0 Collection

Maison introduces new shapes and colors to its Extreme 3.0 leather collection, amplifying options for versatile styling

Montblanc’s signature leather collection Extreme 3.0 returns with a new selection of bags and small leather goods in bold shapes and colors. First launched in July 2022 to meet the demands of everyday movement and balance functionality with contemporary style, the extended Extreme 3.0 collection now introduces fern blue, a sophisticated shade of teal to its color selection, and broadens leather offering in two existing shades - British green and forged iron, a modern grey color.

Accompanying the colors is an assortment of new multi-functional shapes, including:

• Montblanc 142 Bag with its sleek, elongated design recalling the Meisterstück piston filler, the only filling system used in Montblanc writing instruments since 1948

• Montblanc 146 Bag in the form of an open tote

• Mini Sling Bag as a sportier take on the original Sling Bag

Existing Extreme 3.0 shapes getting an update in new colors include:

• Compact Envelope Bag with M LOCK 4810 buckle

• Thin Document Case

• Backpack with M LOCK 4810 buckle and a Large Backpack with 3 Compartments

• Duffle with M LOCK 4810 buckle

• Pouch which can be easily attached to large leather goods for diverse wearing options

Completing this extended assortment is a selection of small leather goods, accessories, and the Montblanc #MY4810 cabin trolley in full-grain bovine leather, now available in black and British green.

As a collection signature, all Extreme 3.0 pieces have been printed on a recognizable leather motif drawing inspiration from images created by Grete Gross, Montblanc’s Head of Advertising who deeply influenced Montblanc’s visual language in the 1920’s. The rational and geometrical visuals were directly influenced by the Bauhaus style of the time. For the Extreme 3.0 collection, the motif has been enlarged on two different scales - a bigger treatment for bags, and a smaller one for small accessories and the Montblanc Summit 3 Smartwatch strap.

To add a fascinating technical detail, the original M LOCK 4810 buckle has been redeveloped in transparent Plexiglas to expose the internal mechanism of the lock. Inspired by closures used in the climbing world, the M LOCK 4810 buckle is certainly worth observing: it features a special mechanism that guarantees secure closure, but is equally easy to open when needed.

The Extreme 3.0 collection showcases of a selection of different shapes, sizes and functions designed to fit the lifestyles of those for whom every day is not about routine but about adventure, whether at work or at play. The collection’s compact shapes also follow the latest trend of incorporating small accessories to larger bags: a selection of the small accessories feature rings that can be attached to the bags via hooks, allowing each wearer to create new contrasts of volumes and colors with many customization possibilities.
